I assume that .rar is another type of zip file. If so what do I use to open these things? i took a look at WinRar but you have to pay for it. Are there any free a alturnatives since I only have one *.rar that I have to install.
Thanks,
John

Hi.
7zip is a free programme which can extract rar files as well as zip and other formats. Go to http://www.7-zip.org/ to download it.
Hope it helps

You can also use winRar, it's free for 30 days and after that if you don't pay for it you get a pop up every time you open a .rar file, you just click close and then you can use it. I've had winrar installed on my laptop for 18 months and it works great.
